About Taylor
I am a clothing maker and designer with a passion for recycling, history, and community. I am a dedicated lover of clothing, whether it be a worn out flannel shirt or a sequined silk gown. Though I have been designing and making clothing for nearly ten years, in the last few years I have decided to take what was a long time hobby and turn into into a professional practice. My service is called Custom & Collaborative Clothing because I view every job as a collaboration and love to work creatively with others. I also feel that educating people on how to make, care for, and understand clothing is a valuable contribution to a healthy community.
Some people find that putting on certain kinds of clothing makes them feel empowered, others simply desire something comfortable that fits. No matter how clothing functions in your life, having items tailored or custom made can be a useful and enjoyable experience. My goal as a provider of sewing services is to encourage those who may have never considered custom clothing that it is well worth the time and investment. I also offer services to help evaluate your wardrobe to develop a better sense of your personal style and the clothing it requires.
When I am not working as a clothing maker, I co-run an artists' studio & gallery space called The Howard Art Project. I create public art pieces, teach workshops, and curate exhibitions and publications about the political, economical, cultural, and emotional aspects of clothing and fashion.
I collect handkerchiefs, love to cook and bake, got married to my partner Jordan on the streets of Las Vegas, love to spend hours hunting through antique and thrift stores, and am caretaker to a cat named Buckaroo and a dog named Daisy.
